Description

St. Charles School, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, is looking for a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional to join our dedicated team of special education teachers, paraprofessionals, behavioral consultants and administrators for the 2023/2024 School Year. The paraprofessional will work 34 hours per week. Working under the direction of a certified teacher, the Special Education Paraprofessional will assist students with special needs and support the teacher with classroom activities and clerical functions. 

St. Charles School provides academic, social, emotional and behavioral services in a therapeutic setting for male and female students in grades K-8.  We are a private provider of special education serving public school students. Our curriculum is non-religious.

With decades of experience supporting child trauma survivors, St. Charles is uniquely positioned to work with children who display severe behaviors in the typical classroom setting. We provide a safe and nurturing environment to help students heal, build meaningful connections; and over time, develop the positive behaviors to successfully reintegrate into traditional school environments.  

Job duties include but are not limited to
• Assist with the implementation of daily lesson plans under the direction of the teacher
• Provide one-on-one or group instruction after initial instruction by the teacher
• Assist students with self-help, motor skills, academic skills and social skills
• Adapt materials and equipment to meet specific needs and learning styles of the student
• Assist in implementing speech, physical and occupational therapy goals by working with students to meet IEP goals

Job Requirements
• High School diploma or GED 
• Experience working with at-risk and high-risk children is preferred
• Accept, understand and relate to students who have behavioral, emotional, learning or physical disabilities
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Willing to be trained and/or updated in First Aid and CPR
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer systems preferred
