Property Handyman

The John Hay Estate at The Fells is seeking a reliable and dedicated Part-Time Handyman to maintain and care for our historic property, including its buildings, grounds, and overall infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong skill set in general maintenance, repair, and preservation tasks, with a deep respect for the historical significance of the property. As part of a small team, you will ensure that our historic site remains in excellent condition, both functionally and aesthetically.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee maintenance and repairs on the property’s buildings, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC projects.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs or potential hazards, addressing them proactively.
• Assist the Landscape Director with the maintenance of the grounds, including irrigation systems, mower and tractor care  and ensuring pathways, fences, and gates are  in good condition.
• Assist in minor restoration work to preserve the historical integrity of the property, working with specialized contractors as needed.
• Ensure proper functioning of all systems, including lighting, heating, and security systems, and respond promptly to any malfunctions or repairs.
• Assisting with moving tables and chairs for special events.
• Collect office trash and deposit in onsite dumpster,
• Perform general maintenance tasks as needed.
