Description

The New Hampshire Food Bank is currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Nutrition Programs Coordinator within our Nutrition Department. The Nutrition Programs Coordinator will primarily focus on the nutrition education program, Cooking Matters. In addition, there will be a percentage of time focused on Leah’s Pantry Nutrition Pantry Program, and a percentage of time on USDA Summer Food Service Program Sponsorship.

Duties 

• Help to develop the strategic vision and implementation of nutrition programming, including Cooking Matters & Nutrition Pantry Program. 

• Set competitive annual goals and work to motivate staff and partners to reach projections.

• Teach healthy cooking, nutrition and food budgeting education to low-income people who are most at risk of hunger and malnutrition.

• Provide custom resources to community partners for nutrition education. 

• Partner with culinary educators, nutrition educators and agency/site staff to coordinate and facilitate nutrition programming. 

• Recruit, train, and retain volunteers for nutrition programs; Cooking Matters curricula, and nutrition education opportunities. 

• Coordinate and lead efforts to promote approved nutrition initiatives in the community (including internally and among partner agencies) to build awareness, credibility and demand. 

• Implement the NHFB Leah’s Pantry Nutrition Pantry Program (NPP) 

o Onboard, guide, and support NHFB agencies through NPP and help to expand our reach.

• Maintain program materials, inventory, data tracking and applicable records.

• Prepare reports as required and monitor data collected to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Understand the other nutrition dept programs and collaborate with staff to cross promote and support one another with department goals. 

• Support Summer Meals staff in program implementation and planning where necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university; major study in Nutrition, Culinary, Heath and Well Being, Public Health, Culinary Nutrition, Health Education, Food and Nutrition, Food Systems, Nutrition Security

• Experience with public health initiatives, outreach, and/or nutrition education preferred

• 2 years of experience community relations, volunteer management and training, or similar 

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computers and various software packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point

• Ability for some night and weekend work and ability to travel throughout the state

• Experience with US Dietary Guidelines MyPlate and working with low income audiences
