The Thrive Survivor Support Center (formerly Crisis Center of Central NH) has been serving Merrimack County since 1978. Our mission is to work towards the end of domestic and sexual violence in Merrimack County. We do this through advocacy, empowerment, education and collaboration. Services are provided regardless of gender, age, health status, physical, mental or emotional ability, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, socio-economic status, race, national origin, immigration status, religious or political affiliation.

FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION SPECIALIST (FVPS) ADVOCATE POSITION:
Those with past lived experience (a minimum of 2 years ago) and/or those who are members of marginalized groups (LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, immigrant/refugees, etc.) are encouraged to apply to help us better represent those we serve.
Responsibilities Summary
- Provide confidential services to victims/survivors who are affected by domestic and sexual violence via the hotline, web chat service, in person at our office or in the community, and at CCCNH's emergency shelter.
- Assist families experiencing domestic violence who are involved with child protective services.
- Participate in Merrimack County's multidisciplinary Adverse Childhood Experience Response Team (ACERT).
- Work in conjunction with child protective services to provide safety planning, referrals, and support for families experiencing domestic violence.
- Provide consultation, support, training, and materials to social workers at child protective services to ensure survivors are provided trauma-informed, survivor-centered support in child protection services.
- Serve as a backup to on-call advocates.
- Attend and/or participate in events that may occur during or outside of regular office hours.
REQUIRED Qualifications:
- Passion for serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking
- Sensitivity to social/societal issues related to domestic and sexual violence (such as victim blaming, intersectionality, systemic racism, etc.).
- Must have a valid driver's license, positive driver record, and regular, individual access to an insured vehicle (proof of insurance required).
- Ability to work in multiple locations, including home, at the emergency shelter, at the office, and other community locations.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check - with no record related to the agency's and job's services and responsibilities.
- Must be able/willing to drive to most places in Merrimack County as part of job duties.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Services/Social Work/Criminal Justice (or similar related field) or some formal education and 2-3 years of experience working in a Human Service setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- General understanding of technology such as Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), Adobe, Zoom, etc.

- Understanding of service systems within NH/Merrimack County (or desire to learn)
- Strong ability to form relationships and build trust
- Good creativity skills/ability to "think outside the box" when problem-solving
- Ability to work well as a part of a team and independently
- Attention to detail
