Executive Director Job Description – Step Up Parents

 

About Step Up Parents: Step Up Parents is a rapidly growing nonprofit organization serving New Hampshire and Maine. Our mission is to provide crucial financial assistance to relatives who have taken on the responsibility of raising children when parents struggle with substance misuse. Since our founding in 2019, we have been dedicated to supporting kinship families, and we remain the only organization of our kind.

 

Position Overview: Step Up Parents is in a phase of dynamic growth, and we are searching for a seasoned leader who can secure our prominent position within the nonprofit sector, both now and in the future. We are seeking an accomplished Executive Director to join our team, someone who can help us expand our mission of compassion. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume responsibility for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of our programs and staff. They will also play a crucial role in successfully executing our fund development plan. Above all, the Executive Director must excel in a leadership role, requiring exceptional communication skills and decisiveness, as they will represent the organization externally.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Ensure Programmatic Excellence and Community Engagement:

  • Maintain the highest standards of program quality, foster connections with our constituents, and serve as the public face of Step Up Parents.
  • Cultivate relationships with collaborative and strategic partners to strengthen our impact.
  • Participate in external events to enhance visibility, credibility, and brand recognition.

Fund Development:

  • Implement our Fund Development Plan, including expanding the donor base, grant writing, organizing fundraising events, and donor stewardship.

Oversee Daily Operations:

  • Provide executive direction for programming, operational efficiency, and service quality.
  • Review applications for assistance and make funding decisions.

Communication Strategy:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of communication, including web presence, social media, marketing materials, newsletters, and press releases.

Leadership and Team Building:

  • Foster and maintain strong relations with the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with the Board to develop strategic and business plans.
  • Build and lead a dedicated team committed to fulfilling the organization's mission through successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee financial record keeping, policies and procedures.
  • Manage budget.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, human resources, or finance.
  • Proven senior management experience, preferably within nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong background in fundraising, public relations, and marketing.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with a board of directors.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and innovative approach to strategic and business planning.
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who thrives as the public face of the organization.
  • Experience in budget management and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks, Little Green Light, Squarespace, and Donorbox.

 

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 (Commensurate with experience)

 

Work Location: Remote, with close proximity to Portsmouth, NH
