New Hampshire Audubon (NH Audubon) is one of the oldest conservation nonprofit organizations in New Hampshire, and one of the original independent Audubon’s in the country.  At over 100 years old, NH Audubon was established before National Audubon Society and remains fully independent and entirely disconnected from that organization.  As such, NH Audubon’s focus is entirely on the protection of New Hampshire’s wildlife and habitats.

Description

TITLE: EVENTS COORDINATOR  

LOCATION: McLane Center - Concord, NH and Massabesic Center - Auburn, NH.  

COMPENSATION: $12-$14 an hour, commensurate with experience.   

HOURS: Saturday, Sunday and/or weekday evenings – as needed. Average of 16hr/week. Part-time non-exempt (hourly paid) support staff position.   

SCHEDULE: Schedule will vary according to needs. April - November 2024, with the opportunity to continue past November. Additional hours may be required as necessary.  

FUNCTION: This position will support the mission of New Hampshire Audubon: to protect New Hampshire’s natural environment for wildlife and for people, by serving as the on-site coordinator for facility rentals and events managed by the Events Manager at both of NH Audubon’s locations: McLane Center in Concord and Massabesic Center in Auburn.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepare facility for event or function according to contract details including, but not limited to, setting up tables and chairs, ensuring cleanliness, opening and closing building, lighting, etc.  

  • Assist clients and vendors during events and respond to requests with a consistently positive and accommodating attitude, focusing on customer service. 
  • Ensure that vendors and event guests comply with NH Audubon policies and guidelines. 
  • Serve as the point person for on-site questions, needs, or emergencies. 
  • Conduct all post-event procedures including, but not limited to, kitchen cleanliness, restroom cleanliness, emptying trash, vacuuming floor and facility set up/tear down. 

  • Secure building according to center closing procedures. 
  • Perform light janitorial duties associated with maintaining public areas inside and outside the facility. 
  • Checking restrooms for cleanliness and supplies throughout the event. 
  • Performing site visits for interested clients to provide information about the McLane Center or meeting with existing clients to establish the details of their event. 
  • Reporting any problems or inconsistencies to Events Manager. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned.  

LEADERSHIP: Reports to the Events Manager

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education: High School graduate or GED required.    

Experience: Two to three years event administration with demonstrated ability to make independent and coordinated decisions.  Knowledge of building systems and emergency procedures required. Knowledge and experience in retail sales preferred.  Basic understanding of New Hampshire’s wildlife helpful but not required.  

Skills, Traits and Characteristics Necessary for Success: Requires exceptional interpersonal skills, attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, solid communication skills and a high degree of organization.  Must be able to prioritize and complete work tasks on time in a complex and dynamic workflow, have a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, work independently, and have a professional and courteous manner. Applicants must be able to pass a background check.       

Physical Demands: To perform the essential functions of the position, the following applies: requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, lifting and transporting a minimum of 50 pounds.  Must be able to climb stairs, be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks, and function in a fast-paced environment.
