Granite United Way, in coordination with local, regional, and statewide partners, supports a growing portfolio of initiatives and services to best meet the needs of our communities. These include three Regional Public Health Networks in NH, 211 NH, the Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative, Work United, and Whole Village Family Resource Center. We have additional emerging areas of focus addressing early childhood and hosing related issues. The goals of the GUW Services Group include:

 

  • Engaging multiple sectors to address complex challenges more effectively in our communities
  • Aligning and coordinating efforts with existing service delivery systems
  • Developing innovative partnerships to improve public health, workplace wellness, information and referral, and resource coordination services
  • Identifying and developing multiple sources of revenue to address regional or statewide priorities

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Community Engagement Director is an integral part of the team charged with building community presence throughout the Central/Lakes Region and supporting GUW’s across the state. Working with members of the engagement team, this position will recruit and engage volunteers in local needs assessment and funding decisions; provide leadership to agency collaborations; and work with leadership to develop new ideas and partnerships that build a stronger GUW.

 

Resource Generation and Corporate Engagement

  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key corporate partners, focusing on revenue generation, and promoting volunteerism. Encourage corporate partners to offer United Way volunteer opportunities to their employees regularly and engage companies in key United Way events.
  • Identify and develop new business relationships.
  • Track revenue generation, retention, donor count, visits and new business activity throughout the year and provide monthly projections against goals.
  • Work closely with United Way Services Group to inform and connect United Way partner companies with United Way services such as Work United, Free Tax Assistance, 2-1-1NH Free Information and Referral, Recovery Friendly Workplace.

Community Presence and Leadership

 

  • Identifying local needs and prioritizing local opportunities
  • Manage local advisory committee (Community Impact Committee, CIC)
  • Integration of Local Initiatives and GUW Services in the portfolio of local impact
  • Involvement in local service and community groups (Chamber, Rotary, Young Professionals)
  • Developing local storytelling and content

 

Agency Relationships and Partnerships

  • Managing grantmaking relationships
  • Convene partners around community issues
  • Outreach to new partners and networks
  • Work with GUW teammates to manage and promote local initiatives and programs (ie: Affordable Housing Incentive Program (AHIP), Whole Village Family Resource Center, Carroll County Coalition for Public Health (C3PH))

Volunteerism and Donor Engagement

  • Lead Day of Caring for volunteer engagement in the fall of each year
  • Support Youth Day of Service in the spring of each year
  • Support ongoing volunteer matching opportunities between partners

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelors Degree or 3-5 years nonprofit experience preferred
  2. Excellent writing and editing skills with superior attention to detail.
  3. Ability to lead, as well as work within, a team to ensure organizational growth and success.
  4. Strong business presentation and facilitation skills and collaborating skills.

 

 ENVIRONMENT:

The venue of this position is a general office environment that is clean, well lighted, environmentally comfortable, free of fumes or airborne particles, and only minimally exposes employees to office solvents limited to those relative to copier equipment.

 

This position requires the ability to:

  1. Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required
  2. Hand manipulation - equipment and controls, frequent; grasping and handling, occasional
  1. Ability to travel throughout the territory required
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include night and weekends
  3. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing and to lift up to approximately 50 pounds to waist high level whenever necessary.
  4. Mobility includes regular sitting, some standing and walking.
