Digital Communications Specialist
 

Summary:
The Episcopal Diocese of Maine and The Episcopal Church of New Hampshire are in search of a skilled
and dynamic Digital Communications Specialist to develop a strategy for and produce engaging content
that will build an online community and share good news within and beyond both dioceses. This includes:
creating visually interesting, relevant, and timely content for our social media channels; building and
sending our biweekly and monthly newsletters, and assisting with website updates. This hybrid, full-time
position reports to the Director of Communications for both dioceses.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Director of Communications to execute social media strategy across social
    platforms
  • Manage social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and content calendar
    to make sure postings are timely, relevant, and engaging
  • Create social media content that is consistent with brand standards, style guide, and online
    voice
  • Collaborate with staff and community to develop and write stories and collect other
    newsworthy material for biweekly and monthly newsletters
  • Research and stay current with emerging social media practices and trends
  • Contribute ideas and strategies to increase social media following and engagement
  • Engage with followers on social media channels, monitor and respond to comments and direct
    messages in a timely manner
  • Track and analyze monthly social media analytics and create monthly social media report
  • Live post to social media channels during large diocesan events such as the 2024 Diocesan
    Convention
  • Assist with updates to the Episcopal Church of New Hampshire’s website to keep it accurate,
    fresh, and reflective of our work
  • Assist with video editing as needed

    KNOWLEDGE (must be proficient at entry)
  • Hands-on experience with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, with a portfolio of
    published social media content on at least two of those channels
  • Hands-on experience with Canva
  • Hands-on experience creating and sending newsletters with Constant Contact or Mailchimp
  • Hands-on experience with a social media platform manager such as Hootsuite or Later
  • Experience building or updating websites in Squarespace
  • Experience with, or willingness to get up to speed quickly with Airtable for content planning

    SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
  • Ability to take initiative, employ good judgment, and manage projects from beginning to end
  •  Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  •  Exceptional ability to manage details
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to anticipate next steps or needs
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Understands digital media and web/social media management and measurement tools
  • Deep curiosity about and knowledge of trends in marketing and media; ability to recognize the
    impact of new technologies and platforms and how best to use these to drive performance
  • Basic video capture and editing
  • Thorough understanding of religious faith and how faith shapes culture (knowledge and
    understanding of The Episcopal Church a plus)
  • Ability to travel to regular staff meetings in Portland, ME, and Concord, NH
