About the Organization

Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative’s (PAREI) mission is to build a resilient community for all through sustainable energy, local food, economic growth, and healthy living. We are an organization with many programs. As a small team, each staff member plays a vital role, wears multiple hats, and plays a crucial role in collaborating closely to achieve our mission.

Founded in 2004, PAREI is a non-profit 501 C-3 membership organization. PAREI offers community-based activities, educational programs and professional services designed to help homeowners, non-profits and businesses reduce energy use or produce solar energy.  PAREI’s services are designed to build a more sustainable and resourceful community. Their programs/services include energy saving and solar energy assessments, educational presentations, community energy exchanges, a volunteer energy advisor network, net zero energy building and solar tours, NHSaves Button Up statewide workshops, solar energy consulting and solar PV installs for residential members and non-profits.

In 2006, PAREI began the Local Foods Plymouth (LFP) program - a year-round weekly online farmer’s market -to give community members the opportunity to conveniently access the region’s farming community, eat fresher foods and save energy through local food sourcing.

PAREI is also the sole owner of NH Solar Shares LLC, a program started in 2017 in partnership with NH Electric Cooperative that builds community solar PV arrays with charitable funds for the purpose of producing solar electricity for monthly electric bill credits for local low-income families and increasing the amount of clean energy on our local grid.
