New Beginnings is dedicated to ending sexual, domestic, and stalking violence through the provision of safe and effective services, including emergency refuge and support; and works toward social change by promoting an effective community response to violence.

Job Summary: The Crisis Response Advocate provides crisis intervention and support, accompaniment, and referrals to community resources for those whose lives have been affected by domestic and sexual violence in Belknap County; as well as to those seeking services through the agency’s 24-hour support line. Primary job functions will be performed remotely using the employee’s personal phone. Occasional travel may be required throughout New Hampshire as necessary. Each per diem position is responsible for up to 15 24-hour shifts per month.

Compensation: Shifts are scheduled based on the employee's availability on a monthly basis. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is a must. Shifts are compensated at the following rates:

  • Monday-Thursday 5PM-7AM - $30 regardless of call volume
  • Friday 5PM-7AM - $50 regardless of call volume
  • Saturday and Sunday 7AM-7AM - $75 regardless of call volume
  • Holidays 7AM-7AM $100 regardless of call volume
  • In-person response and training is compensated at a rate of $18/hour in addition to the above shift stipends. The in-person response is paid for a minimum of three hours. The employee will also receive mileage reimbursement.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide advocacy, domestic violence education, conflict resolution, and emotional support to shelter guests and non-resident clients
  • Respond to area hospitals, police departments, and the New Beginnings emergency shelter within 45-minutes according to NHCADSV Program Standards
  • Respond to phone communication within 10-minutes according to NHCADSV Program Standards
  • Support survivors in developing and maintaining safety plans
  • Assess survivors for appropriate services and referrals
  • Remain knowledgeable of agency guidelines and procedures so independent decisions may be made when necessary
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships exhibiting tact, integrity, and good judgment
  • Participate in system data collection in an accurate, complete, and timely manner

Preferred Skills:

  • Relevant college degree or professional or lived experience
  • Effective communication skills and desire to work on the topics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking
  • Successfully complete forty (40) hours of agency training
  • Clear understanding of 173 C and confidentiality laws
  • Embraces the agency’s mission, philosophical statement, and use of the empowerment model

The employee is required to sit frequently for long periods either at a computer workstation or at meetings. The employee may be required to climb two flights of stairs to access the office and meeting space.
