About the Job

Description

New Futures, New Hampshire’s leading health policy and advocacy organization, is seeking an

innovative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to support its external messaging, marketing and public relations work.  New Futures is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works to solve problems through policy change.  The Communications Coordinator will work with New Futures’ Communications team, as well as Policy and Community Engagement staff, to execute a comprehensive communications strategy to support legislative and advocacy efforts,  and to support the communications needs of contracted partner organizations through New Futures’ Shared Services Program. This is a part-time, exempt position based in Concord, NH. 

The individual in this position must be collaborative, well-organized, and have exceptional, demonstrated written and digital production skills.  The Communications Coordinator will help to develop and distribute print and electronic communications, including but not limited to fact sheets, graphic one-pagers, emails, social media, and website updates for New Futures and contracted shared service partners, including local and regional non-profit advocacy and charitable organizations.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of public health policies and New Hampshire’s political dynamics.  The Communications Coordinator will report to the Communications Director and will work collaboratively with New Futures’ staff, strategic consultants, contracted Shared Services partners and others. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with New Futures’ Communications Director and policy staff, develop content for both print and web communications, including the organization’s website, social media, email program, video content, and editorial pieces;
  • Develop and execute innovative content for web and social media, with heavy emphasis on graphic design;
  • Help prepare statements, press releases, editorials, op-eds and other materials to increase public awareness and expand support for New Futures policy priorities;
  • Field and execute requests from contracted partner organizations through Shared Services program to provide communications-related services, including print and digital materials, social media, website updates, event support and more;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

This position requires at least one year of work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, English, public relations or a related field.  

  • Exceptional written and digital communication skills; 
  • Well-organized and eager to collaborate with other staff, stakeholders and allied partner organizations in advancing policy goals;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to serve New Futures staff and external stakeholders including New Futures board members, vendors, partner organizations, and the general public;
  • Ability to develop strong and effective working relationships with diverse and multi-cultural constituencies including New Futures staff, policymakers, the media, and others; 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, graphic design and video production tools (Canva, Adobe or similar), targeted emails, CMS technology, Google analytics and SEO, and social media platforms;
  • Internet research skills;
  • Willingness to experiment with and learn new media and software in order to maximize best practices for New Futures outreach and advocacy efforts;
  • Ability to maintain a professional work environment at all times.
