About the Organization
Family Promise of Greater Concord is an affiliate of the national Family Promise organization, an interfaith nonprofit organization started in Union County, NJ, committed to helping homeless families nationwide achieve lasting independence. We opened our doors in Concord in the fall of 2015, partnering with the local community, social service agencies, and a large network of amazing faith-diverse volunteers from local surrounding places of worship. Together, we provide shelter, meals, hospitality, and professional wraparound case-management staff to address families' immediate needs and help them move into stable housing.

About Family Promise
Family Promise of Greater Concord (FPGC) helps families experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. FPGC offers short-term emergency shelter, food support, case management, and housing navigation services. We help prevent households from becoming homeless and support program graduates through extended stabilization services.
Position Summary: Case Manager (CM)
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Case Manager to support families in transitioning from homelessness to stable housing. This role involves direct service, case coordination, and collaboration with volunteers to help families achieve lasting independence through employment, housing, and wraparound support.
Family Services
- Lead the intake process for new families, including interviews, background checks, and orientation into the shelter program
- Conduct weekly individual meetings with families to review goals and progress
- Collaborate with other Case Manager(s) to support families with job applications, interview prep, financial coaching, and access to resource such as childcare, counseling, and education
- Assist with housing navigation and move-in needs such as furniture and household essentials
- Offer crisis support and serve as a family advocate with external agencies and service providers
- Maintain a strong network of partner organizations and community resources
- Serve as a family advocate with outside agencies and service providers
- Collaborate with fellow Case Managers to ensure seamless, holistic support
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed
Volunteer Engagement
- Serve as the main liaison between host congregation volunteers and the shelter team.
- Ensure volunteers have the information and equipped to assist families (e.g., work schedules, dietary needs, etc.)
- Engage and motivate volunteers while building strong, respectful relationships that foster long-term involvement.
- Help recruit, train, and recognize volunteers in coordination with the Executive Director
- Provide timely guidance and emergency support to volunteers as needed
- Attend evening volunteer coordinator meetings every other month
- Supervise and support interns as needed
Administrative & Team Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case files and documentation for program evaluation and reporting
- Share weekly case updates to the Executive Director
- Collaborate with fellow Case Manager to manage the on-call phone rotation
- Help maintain a clean, welcoming day center environment
- Participate actively in team meetings, trainings, and strategic discussions
- Supervise and support interns as needed
Additional Expectations
- Occasionally transport guests using a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Participate in fundraisers and special events
- Perform occasional lifting of materials and donations (up to 25 lbs)
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field – or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in direct service work related to housing or family services
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, Housing First, and strength-based approaches
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to self-direct in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse populations, including faith communities and volunteers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems; ability to track outcomes and maintain clear documentation
- Positive, compassionate approach with strong judgment and solution-oriented mindset
Compensation and Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position (no health benefits)
- Salary range: $45,000
- 10 days paid time off
- Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel
- Reports to the Executive Director
- Part of a small, supportive team and large volunteer network
