About us: The mission of the Rockingham County Conservation District is to conserve and sustain the natural environment for present and future generations.

Summary of Position

The Assistant District Manager II (ADM II) is a 40hr/week 1-year temporary position. The goal of the position is to train and assess the temporary hire for fitness as District Manager. An offer for this position is not an offer for a permanent District Manager position. At the end of one year both RCCD and the ADM will assess interest in continuing to District Manager. Neither party shall be obligated to continue at the end of 1 year.

The ASM II will provide IT duties including technical issues, website updates, as well as general administrative duties, financial and HR support, public relations, and outreach support. Additional assistance to complete directives of the Board of Supervisors will also take place for the smooth operations of the RCCD. This position will work closely with the current District Manager (DM) and the Assistant District Manager (ADM, I). This position has the opportunity for an occasional hybrid work schedule, but office presence is expected much of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist/complete estimating/invoicing needs, and other administrative related duties.
  • IT troubleshooting and coordination, and other related duties.
  • Scheduling/reporting for technical services.
  • Complete or oversee all A/P and A/R activities.
  • Handling or assisting with monthly expense reconciliation, deposits and payments, scheduling, vendors, contracts, records, and audits.
  • Support HR responsibilities, assist with new hire files, health insurance updates, etc.
  • Ensure all payroll procedures are enacted correctly, quality control, and/or complete timesheet entries.
  • Public relations and outreach support for District via social media, website, workshops and/or on-site meetings/events.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced computer skills with strong IT and/or technology skills
  • Experience in financial and IT practices, or related field.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, financial, and administrative management.
  • High level of detail, math and analytical/financial skills.
  • High competence with computer systems, and all Microsoft and Google platforms.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop is preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to finance or business OR comparable work experience.
  • Strategic, forward-thinking individual, ready to be a part of the RCCD team.
  • Strong leadership skills: Ability to take ownership of the resolution of problems, be flexible, accountable, and manage conflict.
  • Highly responsible individual, with ability to work independently, and in a team environment.
  • Prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines while working with others in a positive manner with supportive practices.
  • Analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills, including experience researching and analyzing data to develop accurate reports, identify valid solutions, forecast consequences of proposed action, and implement a course of action.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Knowledge and/or high interest in conservation field and practices.
  • Superior time-management practices and outstanding attention to detail, takes pride in doing work accurately and correctly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a diverse working environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate complicated concepts clearly with respect and patience.
