About the Job
Crotched Mountain Foundation seeks a seasoned, entrepreneurial Annual Fund Manager to support its 100+ year mission. This position requires a special mix of detailed development operations management experience with creative donor engagement and stewardship experience. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Annual Fund Manager will marshal their 3+ years’ experience to keenly manage high-standard development operating procedures and practices; will partner with fellow staff, trustees, and volunteers to create compelling Annual Fund and Planned Giving solicitations and donor stewardship opportunities; will convey to donors their commitment to our mission with compassion and integrity in finely crafted oral and written communications; and will have ease in transitioning between responsibilities on a day-to-day basis. CFRE and expertise in Raiser’s Edge platforms preferred but not required. This is a hybrid office position that requires three days (T,W,Th) in our Manchester office and allows two days remote (M,F). Salary is commensurate with experience and includes eligibility for competitive health benefits and generous paid time off.
Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Annual Fund Manager manages Development office operations to secure philanthropic resources for the mission while complying with state and federal regulations and adhering to industry best practices. Within a small-shop operation, < 3 fundraising FTEs, the Annual Fund Manager will manage a range of Annual Fund activities, including gift entry and stewarding low to mid-level donors.
Responsibilities
Development Operations & General Responsibilities
- Assists with the generation and implementation of Development’s Annual Work Plan and Operating Budgets and oversees Development’s financial reporting and analysis.
- Generates fundraising collateral materials that comply with Crotched Mountain standards and reflect best practices in all development disciplines.
- Helps establish, review, and implement Development operations policies and procedures.
- Oversees data collection and analytical models for all fundraising programs.
- 25% of time in Gift Processing and Database Administration.
- ensuring timely and accurate gift entry and donor acknowledgement/stewardship.
- generating mail lists for segmented, individualized, donor communications.
- managing periodic updates for database accuracy and compliance with applicable regulatory agencies.
- generating periodic reports (dashboards, monthly, annual financial, etc.)
- Oversees individual prospect research to support annual and planned giving.
- 25% of time managing portfolio of low to mid-level donors.
- using industry best practices and ‘moves-management’ for authentic donor engagement.
- 25% of time managing fundraising and friend-raising events, including our signature annual Volleyball Tournament.
- stewarding volunteer corps for events.
- creating detailed annual work plan with goal-based task delegation.
- generating annual campaigns for sponsorship and peer-to-peer revenues.
- Monitors day-to-day operations and the timeliness of scheduled programs and deliverables throughout the development department.
- Ensures the Development Office’s Annual Work Plan remains on track.
- Supports the Office of the President by maintaining Board of Director and Trustee files, including Calendar, Committee schedules and ensuring meeting minutes are archived.
2. Annual and Planned Gift Fundraising
- Manage the Direct Mail Program, E-philanthropy, through targeted donor segments for establishing, stewarding, and cultivating donors through the giving cycle.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Advancement to establish a portfolio of qualified planned giving prospects.
- Develop individual cultivation and solicitation strategies, creating relevant engagement opportunities that support the progression of the relationship.
- Track donor relationship progress and activity in the appropriate software.
- Meet fundraising goals established in concert with the Vice President of Advancement.
- Provide long-term stewardship and relationship management with key donors.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Advancement to provide staff support for the board and appropriate committees.
- Establish planned giving prospect outreach and education through direct mail, newsletters, and direct contact.
- Provide research and liaison to the appropriate legal and financial advisors for the valuation and consideration for acceptance of non-cash gifts.
- Steward the “Don Kent Legacy Society” and track bequest intentions in the appropriate software.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Advancement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates seek to serve a respected, 100-year mission through a career with ‘purpose’ and with opportunities for career development. Preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3+ years’ experience fostering donor relationships and active hands-on fundraising, preferably in the human services sector. CFRE and 5+ years’ experience working with Raiser’s Edge platforms is a plus, but not a requirement. Over time, and with training as needed, the incumbent will have experience in a comprehensive development program and have a proven track record in annual and planned gifts; an understanding of human services/programs; demonstrated ability to develop and manage staff and volunteers; experience in planned giving; special events fundraising experience; and exceptional oral and written communication skills.
