Endowment for Health Awards Nearly $1.3 Million in Grants

The Endowment for Health, New Hampshire’s largest health foundation, has awarded nearly $1.3 million in grants year-to-date.  The grants support a wide array of research and awareness-raising projects that include a focus on health equity, children’s behavioral health, early childhood, elder health and health policy.

Families First Receives $50,000 Health Access Grant

Medtronic recently announced that Families First Health & Support Center is the recipient of a two-year Health Access Grant from the Medtronic Foundation in recognition of their continued commitment to improving access to healthcare in the Seacoast region. Families First was nominated by local Medtronic employees working at the Advanced Energy business unit in Portsmouth. Grant funds will be used over the next two years to help cover unreimbursed services provided to patients with chronic diseases.

Staffing Firm Donates $15K to Families First

The Exeter-based technical staffing firm Digital Prospectors recently donated $15,000 to Families First Health & Support Center, continuing its longtime support of the community health center. Since 2010, Digital Prospectors has donated a total of $80,000 to Families First.

Foundation Grants for New Hampshire Oral Health Programs

The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $152,000 to New Hampshire oral health programs. For more than two decades, the Foundation has supported organizations and initiatives that provide oral health education and improve access to dental care in New Hampshire communities.

Agnes M. Lindsay Trust Helps Break Down Local Dental Care Barriers

The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust recently awarded a $5,000 grant to Families First Health & Support Center. Grant funds support the mobile dental services that Families First provides at Cross Roads House in Portsmouth, the Salvation Army in Rochester, and the St. Vincent dePaul Society in Exeter. Last year, about 400 people used these services.

Northeast Delta Dental Foundation, Agnes Lindsay Trust Support Dental Health at MCHC

Manchester Community Health Center (MCHC) has received a $5,000 contribution from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to support the health center’s dental services referral program. MCHC has also received $3,000 from The Agnes Lindsay Trust for dental services.

Family Literacy Project Earns Grant from TD Charitable Foundation

Manchester Community Health Center has received a $5,000 contribution from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, to support the health center’s Family Literacy program. The program’s goal is to improve adult literacy in order to make it easier for families to communicate, obtain and maintain jobs, and improve their lives. Family Literacy Nights are held each week at Child Health Services at MCHC, 1245 Elm Street in Manchester. The classes provide adults with a stress-free environment to improve their English, study for the GED, or prepare for the US citizenship test. Child care is provided during the classes, and kids can get help on their homework or play educational games.

School-based dental care in Seabrook gets support

The Provident Community Foundation recently awarded a $5,000 grant to Families First Health and Support Center to be used to provide oral health education, screenings and cleanings to students at Seabrook Elementary School and Seacoast Head Start. This is the tenth grant the Provident Community Foundation has made to Families First, including three grants to the dental program in Seabrook.

Kate Baker Named to Head Children’s Scholarship Fund’s New Hampshire Office

Granite State businesses have an exciting role to play in improving educational opportunities for New Hampshire’s children in 2016. The Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) recently announced it has hired Kate Baker to head its New Hampshire operations, and Kathy Lauer Rago to serve as Program Manager, effective January 1st. Upon receiving all necessary state approvals, CSF will administer Education Tax Credit scholarships formerly managed by the Network for Educational Opportunity (NEO).

2015 Program Grants Total Close to $1 Million

The HNH Foundation awarded $974,866 in grants during its 2015 program year. The awards benefitted 23 health-related initiatives and projects at non-profit and community organizations across the state. The HNH Foundation makes grants to address systemic change to affect the health of New Hampshire's youngest and most vulnerable children and their families.
