Focusing/narrowing my practice to serve environmental/energy, research/technology, and education nonprofits. These areas align most closely with my engineering and management background and deepest passions. In addition to consulting, I also serve as a board member (previous board chairman) for an electric utility, chairman of IEEE’s NH Chapter of the Power and Energy Society and as an adjunct graduate professor.

Executive Directors and CEOs: I have served in the ED/CEO role for 5 years. I understand issues can be complicated requiring consultants with a wide breadth and depth of experience in all aspects of nonprofits.

Board members: I have served on several boards, large and small with annual budgets from $50K to $140M. I have also served as the chairman of the board for a $280M nonprofit. I understand that truly moving organizations forward require close collaboration between management and boards.

I have 17 years of consulting experience, 5 years of which was leading an up to 40 person nonprofit consulting organization focusing solely on NH nonprofits and all aspects of capacity building. During that time I worked with nearly 150 nonprofits on numerous issues. Before becoming a consultant I worked for 19 years at some of the world’s most successful organizations where I rose quickly into management, planning, marketing and customer facing roles. Additional accomplishments include:

- regularly invited speaker at several NH Governor’s Conferences on Volunteerism and various US State Department and other venues to speak on a variety of management topics including strategic planning;

- teaching /taught graduate courses on topics including leadership, strategic planning, board governance, business strategy and planning, and marketing;

– developed/developing graduate/MBA courses in “Strategic Project Management” and “Change Management”;

- 36 years of experience volunteering for nonprofits – I have also previously served as a mentor in the NH Center for Nonprofit’s Hoffman-Haas Fellowship program and as a volunteer Facilitator in their High Impact Volunteer Engagement program. (I also have relationships with the NH Charitable Foundation).

My approach focuses on listening to your needs and understanding your capacity (individual as well as organizational) and then collaborating regularly with you as we work together. You will find me practical, personable, engaging and that I have a sense of humor.

Please contact me for a free 1 hour consultation. If I am not the right fit for your organization, I will likely be able to point you to others that are. Thank you for your hard work and for serving the nonprofit sector and our communities!
