Strategic Planning

I help nonprofit organizations better serve their community.  I spent much of my career in nonprofit healthcare, leading strategic planning, system development, and community health improvement for Yale New Haven Health System.  Through this work, I led complex, board-level strategic planning processes for the health system, established the community health improvement and anchor mission programs for the organization, and partnered with a range of health and human services organizations to collectively improve the health and living conditions in the community.

Throughout my career, I served on boards of mission-driven organizations and led strategic planning processes for them to set a clear vision for the future and develop supporting strategies to achieve the goals.  I have been a thought partner to senior leaders of hospitals and nonprofits, and have re-engaged boards and key stakeholders in the work of the organization.

I hold an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.

I am committed to providing a client-focused experience that starts with ensuring a clear understanding of your needs, the development of custom services to meet those needs, and a commitment to deliver those services within your budget and on your timeline.

Margo Amgott, Interim CEO
Address

Description of Work Done
I was head of the Strategic Planning Committee and then Chair of the Board. I led a strategic planning process that involved the board and senior staff, and helped the organization determine the best path forward, including developing a strategic partnership with another United Way. We are now implementing that plan. Throughout this process, I re-engaged the board in our mission and work, and have been a trusted partner and advisor to the Interim CEO.

Reference Name
Ann Olson, Executive Director, Home Health and Hospice, Masonicare, and former President and CEO, VNS of CT
Address
Bridgeport, CT
Description of Work Done
In 2017, the VNS of CT had recently hired a new President and CEO, and she wanted to develop a three-year strategic plan that laid out a vision for the future and engaged both her board and staff in the work. As Vice Chair of the board at that time, I developed and led a strategic planning process that included competitive research, stakeholder interviews, a current state assessment, visioning for the future, and a board/staff retreat to ensure input and consensus into the strategic plan. The resulting plan set a path forward for the organization, improving current quality and operations, and resulted in a successful corporate affiliation that provided resources to support enhanced services for the VNS’ clients.
