Children's Alliance of NH releases NH Roadmap to End Childhood Hunger

Henniker – The Children’s Alliance of NH today released the NH Roadmap to End Childhood Hunger; a systemic guide to tackling the root causes of childhood hunger. The NH Roadmap was created through a year-long effort by a diverse coalition of anti-hunger and child advocates, business and community leaders known as NH Hunger Solutions. The publication of the NH Roadmap took place Tuesday at the Henniker Community School where both the work of community partners and funders was recognized and the school’s innovative breakfast program was showcased.

Northeast Delta Dental Foundation Shows Continued Support of Families First

Portsmouth – The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded a $5,000 grant to support three dental programs at Families First Health and Support Center: on-site dental care, the school-based program known as Seacoast Healthy Grins, and mobile dental care for people experiencing homelessness. The foundation has donated to Families First Dental Center annually since the center’s founding in 2003.

Physician Ruth James joins Families First

Portsmouth — Ruth James, MD, MPH, has joined Families First Health and Support Center as a full-time family physician. A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, she completed her residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, where she received the 2010 Thomas Holcomb Award for excellence in pediatrics.

The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire Wins Coveted Museum Innovation Award

Arlington, MA – The New England Museum Association (NEMA) today announced that the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire has won the organization’s 2012 Leaders in Innovation Award. The award was for the museum’s acclaimed “Alzheimer’s Café” program, which welcomes multiple generations of families living with Alzheimer’s disease and forms of dementia, along with their care partners, into the museum on a monthly basis free of charge.

Concord - Girl Scouting is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, but those in challenging situations or without a support system may find it difficult to participate. That’s why Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains have partnered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, to provide more opportunities for girls facing adversity.
