Founded in 2006, Castle Preservation Society is the nonprofit corporation responsible for the management, protection, and restoration of the historic Lucknow Estate, now known as Castle in the Clouds.  Our mission is to preserve, interpret, and share the buildings and landscape of the Castle in the Clouds as a cultural resource for the benefit of the public.  CPS provides a wide array of opportunities for visitors to engage with the estate, including tours of the historic home, an award winning restaurant, engaging public programs, a gift shop featuring local artisans, and access to some of the most breathtaking views of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.  Our vision is to be a premier historic and cultural resource.

Castle Preservation Society celebrate a decade of preservation work in 2016.  Since our inception, we have spent nearly $3,000,000 addressing critcal preservation needs of the historic buildings under our care.  We also welcome nearly 50,000 visitors each year, from all 50 states and countries across the world.  The Board of Directors adopted a new strategic plan framework in June 2016.  Intended to guide our work for the next three to five years, the organization has committed to five areas of focus:

1. Ensure a strong financial future through a combination of expanded fundraising and new earned revenue opportunities.

2. Fully transition to a governance model of board leadership.

3. Develop a comprehensive facilities master plan to address continuing restoration of the historic buildings as well as deferred maintenance throughout the property.

4. Refresh, renew, and update our interpretation of the historic estate, including developing new programming that helps deliver on our mission to preserve, restore, and share the Lucknow Estate.

5. Refresh our brand to accurately portray the many aspects of Castle in the Clouds and pursue new marketing initiatives to encourage deeper engagement and increased visitation.
