Volunteer NH

Volunteer NH is a 501c3 nonprofit organization (created in 2001) with a mission to promote the tradition of service in New Hampshire. Building on that strong volunteer spirit, we support and sponsor national service initiatives and provide training, recognition, and a central site for volunteers and volunteer programs to help them strengthen their communities.

Some of our activities include:

  • Organizing and hosting the annual Governor’s Conference on Volunteerism
  • Providing information and resources to volunteers and volunteer programs through our website
  • Administering AmeriCorps programs in New Hampshire
  • Offering education and training for New Hampshire nonprofit, state agency and business volunteer initiatives.
  • Providing volunteer recognition through the Spirit of New Hampshire Awards Ceremony
  • Coordinating the State Emergency Operations Plan Emergency Support Annex, Volunteer & Donations, during disasters and emergencies through the NH VOAD and Citizen Corps programs
  • Providing an online site for volunteers to find nonprofits to volunteer at and for nonprofit organizations to post their unfulfilled needs through our volunteer matching database, Get Connected.
  • Identifying the most critical needs of New Hampshire Citizens with our three-year Unified State Service Plan

Volunteer NH has experienced much growth in the past few years. Our organization has applied for, and been awarded, multiple grants to help imporve the lives of NH citizens. One of these grants was to conduct outreach to NH organizations with the ability to create AmeriCorps programs that would focus on combating the opioid eidemic.Due to this outreach, VNH had a successful applicant, Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. With this new addition, as well as new programs from Squam Lakes Association and Campus Compact for NH, Volunteer NH's portfolio will have doubled in size in just two years (from four to eight programs)! VNH expects even more growth in the coming years - not just in regards to AmeriCorps, but with our events as well!
