Lake Winnipesaukee Association

Founded in 1976, the Lake Winnipesaukee Association's mission is to protect the water quality and natural resources of Lake Winnipesaukee and its watershed now and for future generations.

The Lake Winnipesaukee Association (LWA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the water quality and natural resources of Lake Winnipesaukee through monitoring, education, stewardship, and science guided approaches for lake management.  LWA works to ensure Winnipesaukee’s scenic beauty, wildlife habitat, water quality and recreational potential continues to provide enjoyment long into the future.

Lake Winnipesaukee is a national and international scenic resource renowned for its remarkable setting, outstanding water clarity, and economic vitality within New England.  Our vision is to engage and provide the community with the knowledge, tools, and support to live, work and recreate in harmony with the lake and its natural environment, thereby providing a sustainable, vital economy for the region.

In partnership with the Lakes Region Planning Commission, we've developed the award winning 'Winnipesaukee Gateway' website, which provides a 'one-stop shopping' source for maps, environmental plans, water quality data, recreational opportunities, and more!

We are actively working to complete a lake-wide managment plan for the lake, and have completed plans for Meredith Bay, Paugus Bay, Sanders Bay, Lake Waukewan, Moultonborough Bay Inlet, and in 2017 will begin one for Moultonborough Bay.
