The Board Self-Assessment Questionnaire allows nonprofit boards to assess their effectiveness in 12 aspects of governance, ranging from board-staff roles to external relations practices. This tool has been used by hundreds of boards and thousands of board members throughout the US and abroad since 2009.
The tool is now available as an online survey and the results are tabulated for you—replacing the previous process of tabulating by hand. The data is then put in a format that makes it easy for your board to begin analysis and assessment of key areas. While we typically only provide the tabulation without analysis, please email web@nhnonprofits.org if you're interested in consultation based on your results.
Payment is required prior to the launch of the questionnaire. Effective July 1, 2016, the administrative fees for this service have changed.
Members of the Center | Free | |
Not-Yet-Members of the Center | < 35 Board Members* | $89 |
35–100 Board Members* | $139 |
Pricing is based on the number of board members participating in the questionnaire. For example, if your full board consists of 50 members, but you only want a committee of 20 to participate in the questionnaire, the price would be determined based on the size of the committee. For boards with more than 100 members or to discuss group rates, please email web@nhnonprofits.org.
The questionnaire itself is always available for anyone to download and self-administer for free.
