The Society of St Vincent de Paul Exeter, NH Food Pantry and Cleo Castonguay Community Assitance Center was established in October of 1989 with the mission to provide emergancy food and assitance to those in need when all other resources have been exhusted. We serve the needs of our neighbors struggling in Exeter, Newfields , Stratham, Kensington, Brentwood and East Kingston.
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for establishing and supervising volunteer activities at SVdP Exeter. The duties include interviewing and hiring Volunteers, placing Volunteers in different roles based on their qualifications and current needs, and maintaining accurate Volunteer records. Develops and expands existing awareness to to create opportunities for new volunteers, Also supervising their placement and performance within their assignments working with us.
Requirements:
High School graduate minimum or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Two or more years of manager experience required preferably in a non-profit organization
Strong communication, administrative, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Perform well under pressure
Ability to thrive independently and work collaboratively
Responsibilities:
Oversee general volunteer involvement, including the training and scheduling of volunteers.
Conduct new volunteer orientation. Train volunteer personnel, set expectations for performance and operating procedures to uphold our SVdP Exeter organization's values.
Schedule volunteers for food pantry operations. Provides individual volunteer support as needed.
Participate, planning and organizing trainings & specials events concerning volunteer staff, including site selection, logistical arrangements, purchasing supplies, promoting events, scheduling and being the primary point of contact for the event.
Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities. Contribute to Volunteer Newsletter.
Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
Manage the volunteer database (Tracking and reporting of volunteer hours and contact information) and communications with volunteer.
Conduct ongoing evaluation of the volunteer engagement strategy and recommend and implement improvements as identified and/or necessary. Periodic evaluation of volunteers.
Lead outreach and volunteer recruitment to sustain and grow volunteer participation and lead effective volunteer placement processes.
Delegate tasks for volunteers to conduct inside food pantry sessions. Assist in Food Pantry food sessions and unpacking donations.
Must be able to stand and lift and carry 25 pounds.
