Development Director
A new position, Way Station’s Development Director is responsible for raising resources and support for the organization’s mission activities. Way Station utilizes dynamic governance (also referred to as sociocracy), which prioritizes distributed leadership and shared power. The ideal candidate for this position will share a commitment to these priorities and demonstrate interpersonal and leadership skills required to thrive in such an organizational setting. In addition to supporting development goals for the annual operating budget, the Development Director will oversee special campaigns including for a new transitional and emergency housing program.
Skills and experience:
At least 5 years relevant work experience
Excellent oral and written communication
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to take initiative with minimal supervision
Attention to detail
Proficiency with document and spreadsheet creation and editing, database management
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Way Station leadership, coordinate development planning including campaigns, budgets, strategies, branding, and policies
Cultivating and stewarding individual donors including prospect research, donor relationship management, donor recognition
Managing annual appeals and special campaigns including developing communications, campaign outreach, campaign followup
Managing the grants program including identifying needs, researching prospects, developing proposals, tracking applications, submitting reports
Managing donor information including data entry, reports, gift processing, thank you letters
Event coordination for the organization’s own special events and participating at other special events
Marketing and communications support such as annual reports, newsletters, website, social media, press releases
Development program evaluation and reports as requested by the Way Station leadership
Supporting other mission-related work as needed
Salary and benefits:
The Development Director position is initially half time / 20 hours per week, with department/position growth expected to occur in tandem with operational and program expansion. Way Station offers generous compensation and benefits, commensurate with experience. Starting salary is between $30,000-$37,000 with benefits including flexible schedule, remote working, and optional health insurance stipend.
