The NH Bar Association (NHBA) is a statewide professional association that supports members of the legal profession and their service to the public and justice system. The NHBA is a unified bar association, meaning that bar association membership is mandatory for all those licensed to practice law in the State of New Hampshire. A member of the NHBA Management Team, the Director of Professional Development is responsible for management of the Professional Development Department staff and activities related to the delivery of NHBA continuing legal education (CLE) programs including coordination and support of the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee, CLE program development, and coordination and support of NHBA’s Substantive Law Sections.

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree preferred and minimum of five years related experience and/or training in management and adult education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ability to work with and lead volunteers and work collaboratively with NHBA members.  Knowledge of the New Hampshire legal system or J.D. desired, but not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares, reviews, and manages the Professional Development Department annual budget
  • Manages, coaches, trains, guides, and directs the work of the Professional Development’s four administrator and coordinator level staff
  • Responsible for CLE programming, curriculum, and faculty development
  • Management and support of NHBA volunteers as it relates to administration of Professional Development Programs
  • Facilitates, guides, and advises the work of the CLE Committee, including preparation of the Committee’s fiscal plan and goals
  • Participates and contributes at management team meetings
  • Collaborates with Director of Marketing, Communications & Member Outreach (Director of Marcomm) to establish and implement a marketing plan for all professional development programs and products
  • Responds to NH Supreme Court, 603 Legal Aid, and other agency requests regarding NHBA CLE programs and/or participation and development of training programs for 603 Legal Aid Pro Bono Program and the NH Judicial Branch
  • Oversight of NHBA’s online CLE catalog administered by NHBA’s vendor partner, InReach, as well as all CLE offerings, products, and lending library
  • Manages and supports Professional Development staff responsible for administering the Practical Skills program
  • Receives and acts on county bar CLE requests/needs
  • Facilitates NH Practice and Procedure Handbook production and update
  • Reviews, verifies, and approves various internal forms including, but not limited to timecards, leave requests and vendor invoices.
  • Performs other work to include special projects as requested from the Executive Director
