Executive Director
Since 1974, The Youth Council (TYC) has been an important resource for the Greater Nashua community. TYC is a non-profit 501(C3) organization specializing in programs centered on providing assessment, guidance, and counseling to youth and families through services focusing on mental health, social-emotional wellness, educational supports, restorative juvenile justice, and substance use disorders.

We are looking for a strong leader with creative energy, familiarity with grant writing, a passion for community work, a love for networking with community partners, the ability to understand and share the work of the agency as well as the ability to provide support and meet the needs of our dedicated staff.
The Executive Director acts as the Chief Executive Officer of the TYC and is responsible for the overall management and direction of the organization in accordance with its vision and mission. The Executive Director works under the general oversight of the Board of Directors. This is a permanent, full-time exempt position. Applications for a part-time interim executive director will be considered.
Overview
The Executive Director provides a supportive environment so that staff are able to carry out the objectives of the TYC via clear organization, positive management, critical understanding of agency values, and motivating leadership. This position also includes Board collaboration, finance management, fundraising and resource development, program management, personnel development, communications, community relationships, and facility management. The Executive Director works with the Board and Board Committees to foster the mission and vision of TYC, implement strategic imperatives, and determine the scope of TYC programs and advocacy priorities.
● Master’s degree in social work, public health, health, public administration or equivalent and 3-5 years of related experience or bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, health, public administration or equivalent and 10 years of related experience.
● Experience in grant writing and fundraising; supervision and personnel management; financial management; and program development and events.
● Demonstrated communication skills.
● Experience in administering collaborative programs.
● Experience working with Boards of Directors.
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Board members, partners and the general public.
● Additional desired qualifications include previous experience with not-for-profit organizations.
Board of Directors
● Organize Board of Directors meetings and facilitate staff and Board input into program plans and initiatives.
● Communicate with Board members to keep them fully informed on opportunities, challenges, and events which will help facilitate the Board in making informed decisions.
● Take direction from the Board and work closely with the Board to assure the ongoing review and development of TYC’s Strategic Plan and Work Plan to move forward the mission and vision of the TYC.
Financial Management
● Manage all financial aspects of The Youth Council: prepare budgets, design salary schedules, monitor revenue and expenses.
● Develop annual budget and fundraising plan in collaboration with the Finance Committee and submit to the Board for approval.
● Oversee accounting procedures and the annual financial review and/or audit.
● Identify grant opportunities, develop proposals, and produce required reporting to funding sources while ensuring that the TYC is a responsible steward of grants, donations, and fees.
● Approve benefits contracts, including health insurance and 403(b).
● Bring The Youth Council to a point of consistent financial stability through improving cashflow and revenue.
Fundraising Management
● Oversee fundraising events including the annual appeal and at least one major event per year.
● Nurture and expand relationships with sponsors and donors.
● Incorporate Staff and Board members into fundraising events.
Program Management
● Advocate for the agency and its clients on state and local levels.
● Ensure program quality and adherence to all state and federal guidelines, regulations, certifications and requirements.
● Understand and carry out guideline requirements of funding agencies.
● Approve and submit reports as required by funders.
● Oversee evaluations of programs and services.
● Develop new programs that reflect the needs of the community as they relate to the mission of The Youth Council.
● Ensure staff has and maintains certifications as required for program operation.
● Ensure that technology is current and appropriate.
