Executive Director

Kimball-Jenkins Estate

The property known as the Kimball Jenkins Estate, located at 266 North Main Street, Concord, New Hampshire, was a gift to the people of Concord from the last of the Kimball heirs, Carolyn Kimball Jenkins.  Carolyn was a longtime lover of both art and community and was herself a prominent figure in theatre.  Her appreciation for her hometown and the arts led her to dedicate her estate at her death to the "encouragement of art" for the benefit of the greater Concord community.

The gorgeous historic Victorian Mansion serves as the centerpiece of the estate, but the Yellow Building standing across from it predates the Mansion and is the oldest structure on the property.  Originally built as law offices, the Yellow Building is flanked by the Carriage House and together, the Mansion, Yellow Building, and Carriage House serve as the core of all activities.

Kimball Jenkins, Inc., the owner of the property, is an IRC §501(c)(3) non-profit corporation created under New Hampshire law.  Nine dedicated volunteers serve as its Board of Directors, and, together with its small but dedicated staff, oversee Kimball Jenkin’s buildings and grounds and the operation of the highly esteemed Kimball Jenkins School of Art.

Founded in 1998 to provide art instruction to adults and youth of all ages, the Kimball Jenkins School of Art operates year-round and offers art classes and activities to more than 1,300 students annually.  The School also sponsors a highly popular youth Art Camp each summer, offering six weeks of themed art fun for kids and teens in a beautiful historic setting.

Several buildings on the estate have been refitted to provide space for art studios and classrooms for drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, glass and sculpture. Additionally, the Mansion and the Carriage House provide the main galleries where visitors will find an on-going series of exhibits of works from regional and national artists. To help provide additional financial support, both galleries and the gardens are also available for rent for private events such as wedding receptions, corporate meetings and social gatherings.
