Milford Education Coordinator
Bridges: Domestic & Sexual Violence Support provides Crisis Advocacy and Support to Primary and Secondary Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Stalking in the Greater Nashua Area. Our Mission is to cultivate communites free from violence as we support victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on our Support Line and also during the day in our Nashua, NH and Milford, NH offices. We also have an emergency shelter and now provide transitional housing to women and children who do not meet the criteria of other housing programs.
The Education Coordinator is responsible for the overall organization and coordination of the Education Program of Bridges in Milford, NH and the surrounding communities. In summary, this position will be assessing current community needs, promoting local awareness, developing and accessing appropriate curricula, researching and designing specialized educational presentations as needed, updating resource information, and overseeing agency educational programs.
Relevant employment experience, college degree or course work. Must have effective communication skills and desire to work on the topics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Ability to educate about prevention and intervention, handle crisis situations as needed, and maintain client confidentiality. Successful completion of thirty-five (35) hours of agency training is required. A valid driver’s license and automobile are insurance required.
1.Participate in weekly agency staff meetings and regular supervision sessions.
2.Evaluate, develop, facilitate, and present educational, awareness-raising prevention programs geared to the needs of the community.
3.Annually at the start of the school year, send outreach letters to all schools in Bridges catchment Milford, NH area offering presentations.
4.Coordinate and present education programs at area schools, business, and civic organizations.
5.Facilitation and development of support groups.
6.Assist staff members in developing skills-building programs for survivors.
7.Supervise student interns working on education topics.
8.Prepare, coordinate, and present pre-service and in-service staff and volunteer training.
9.Explore related topic areas and gather information to create new programs.
10.Inventory, maintain, and distribute educational resource materials within program budget.
11.Develop and maintain agency library of information for the use in public.
12.Participate in relevant Coalition activities and meetings.
13.Meet relevant grant and statistical requirements.
14.Participate in On-Call rotation.
15.Promote the agency’s mission.
16.Adhere to expectations consistent with Bridges definition of cultural competence. These expectations seek to clarify the knowledge, attitudes, skills and practices that would need to provide culturally and linguistic competent services to the diverse populations of the Greater Nashua area.
17.Attend training programs and use practices that promote culturally competent services.
