Art/Music Teacher

Monarch School of New England

The Monarch School of New England serves students with significant special needs ages five to twenty-one in the least restrictive setting possible.  Our program focuses on educational activities as well as social opportunities by integrating traditional as well as alternative therapies and vocational programming.  Our professionals work closely with each student to prepare them for integration back into the mainstream or the communities where they will eventually live.

Responsible for all class activities related to school based art and/or music instruction in accordance with school goals and objectives in a team environment.


Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in art and/or music instruction or equivalent professional experience.

Experience: One year experience as a teacher or teacher assistant in art and/or music instruction of special needs students with significant disabilities.


1.  Instructs assigned students in art and/or music on a weekly basis.

2.  Meets as needed with supervisor, special education teachers, and other staff to review and discuss student progress, and to follow through on recommended goals, techniques and therapies.

3.  Provides written progress reports on students to supervisor and special education teachers, as requested.

4.  As appropriate, maintains certification and staff development in accordance with New Hampshire regulations.

5.  Attends School staff meetings and in-service trainings.

6.  Participates in school-wide activities benefitting the students.

7.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
