Education For All Children

Education for All Children (EFAC) provides an education-to-employment program for bright, disadvantaged Kenyan youth to foster leadership, economic opportunity and social progress. Our organization offers 8+ years of scholarships, mentoring and career development to over 500 Kenyan students who lack the resources to continue their education beyond the 8th grade. EFAC is transforming lives by providing a path out of poverty for hundreds of talented Kenyan youth.

Part-Time, 30 hours

Education for All Children (EFAC) is seeking a dynamic and creative self-starter to join our team as Director of Development. This position will work closely with EFAC’s co-Founders and Executive Director to oversee a comprehensive fundraising platform for our growing organization.

We are addressing the disparity in educational and economic mobility for Kenyan girls and boys living in poverty, helping them reach their true potential in life. Our goal is to produce graduates who become Kenya’s future entrepreneurs, leaders, and agents of social change for their communities and country at large. We have offices in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Nairobi, Kenya. 


Skills + Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of non-profit fundraising experience.
  • Facility with a CRM platform (Salesforce preferred).
  • Personal success raising major gifts, securing multi-year commitments, and diversifying income sources. Knowledge of current fundraising best practices.
  • Success building and stewarding relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders that resulted in increased revenue and engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable speaking to donors, board members, etc.
  • Strong capacity to problem solve independently; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks/projects as well as set priorities within projects.
  • Ability to work in a small, dynamic and highly collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint); facility with major media platforms i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a thought-partner and strategist with EFAC leadership to play a key role in shaping our growth trajectory as we increase our budget from $1.2 million to $2 million or more by 2021.
  • Establish and implement an effective multi-year development strategy with measurable goals and outcomes to increase EFAC’s financial resources, visibility, and overall organizational advancement.
  • Cultivate relationships with current donors and prospects to increase income and engage new sources of revenue; equip EFAC Board and leadership team with the tools they need to participate in ongoing donor identification, cultivation and solicitation.
  • Lead prospect research, identifying opportunities for EFAC to grow its presence and donor relationships. Create a system for tracking prospective donors and keeping abreast of national trends and news with potential for impacting fundraising efforts.
  • Drive the growth of our major gifts, planned giving, and monthly giving programs, along with our sponsorship donor base. 
  • Oversee donor database and tracking systems. Identify areas for improved development infrastructure within Salesforce and implement effective processes for our development work. Develop and monitor dashboards and reports as needed to track development metrics.
  • Maintain and update timelines for our development work including report deadlines, institutional funding cycles, event production plans, and cultivation plans. 
  • Facilitate inspiring online campaigns (#GivingTuesday, Annual Appeal, etc.).
  • Participate in the strategy and execution of EFAC’s fundraising events.
  • With communications team, collaborate to deliver excellent content in print, digital and social media.
  • With Executive Director, manage grants program - applications, timelines, deliverables, reports for foundation funding.
  • Analyze development performance, including trends and insights to optimize fundraising capacity.
