Upper Valley Haven

The Haven serves people in the Upper Valley struggling with poverty by providing food, shelter, service coordination, education and other support. Its vision is to create a community where people find hope and discover possibility.

Since 1980 the Upper Valley Haven, located in White River Junction, VT, has provided temporary shelter and educational programming for homeless families and adults as well as food to anyone in need. The Haven offers support and fosters independence through four domains of service: Food, Shelter, Education and Problem Solving. The Haven is open 365 days per year and never charges for any of its services. We serve over 14,500 people per year. It is difficult to adequately describe the stress and range of emotions surrounding homelessness and poverty. The same is true of the rewards our donors, staff, and volunteers experience from helping those in need.

Our Team:

We are looking for people who share our passion for supporting the Upper Valley with services of food, shelter, education and problem-solving. We have a creative team of dedicated professionals who come to work every day with the desire to partner with and help people in need of our services to address long-term insecurity and instability. The Human Resources Generalist will support this team efficiently and competently, so they can focus on our mission and service delivery.

The Position:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Haven leadership. This position manages the day to day operations for human resources in a small (50 employees) non-profit organization. The Generalist will carry out responsibilities in the areas of recruitment, on-boarding, employee relations, benefits administration, maintaining employee and contractor records, and compliance. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week position with benefits. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate will be proficient in project management and have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work independently to complete tasks, ability to deal with distractions and multi-tasking.

Requirements:

Education: BA in Human Resources, Business or Related Major

Experience: 3+ years HR experience

Ability to maintain confidentiality and sense of professionalism while interacting with all levels of employees

Very Strong PC Skills
