I seek business and nonprofit opportunities in event and meeting planning, facilitating collaborations, organizational strategy, outreach and development, stepping in as a transitional interim executive, and management of special projects.
I was the founding executive director the NHBCA for 33 years. During my tenure I worked both for my board of CEO’s and was a board member myself for several nonprofits; I understand organizations from both sides. Summary of my work and skills:
Established programs that were sustained for 33 years and learned how to let go of ones that ran their course.
Joined a board of a failing nonprofit and with 3 other remaining board members reformed it into what is considered one of NH’s leading nonprofits.
Organized and served on panels as a speaker and moderator.
Conceptualized and planned the launch of what is now known as the creative economy to business and government leaders.
Fundraised for my own organization and strategized with arts organizations on their fundraising.
Collaborated with many business and nonprofit entities to present and share ideas, programs and events. Enjoed working with a group to bring concepts to life through events and programs.
Proficient in fundraising, strategy, and executive and board member identification.
Comfortable with mentoring emerging leaders and coaching for effective public speaking.
Believe attention to details and planning from the perspective of the audience experience make an event special.
Have excellent oral and written skills and am proficient in preparing marketing materials.
Am a team player but can lead and work alone.
Transition of my long-term executive leadership position to my successor. Work included all available history of annual event, administrative and financial procedures, programs, mentoring and board member information.
The MacDowell Colony, physically located in New Hampshire but with a main office in New York, has had little focus with developing business support in New Hampshire. As the face of the development team in New Hampshire, I developed a target list of current and potential arts-friendly businesses and individuals in the state who had yet to support MacDowell. I contacted and met with these targeted potential supporters and I was successful in identifying a major corporate foundation grant. I also worked on outreach to connect MacDowell to the Currier Museum of Art and the NH Humanities Council to explore and propose several projects that would enhance each other's visibility and interaction with shared attendance and joint programming. When my contract ended I provided a detailed strategic plan for future business fundraising as well as the contacts' reasons for agreeing to or declining support to MacDowell.
