I first established my consulting practice in 1995 to help senior management teams grow their organizations in a strategic and sustainable way. Growth is my passion, since my entire career has been about building or leading growth initiatives in a broad range of industries. I bring this perspective to nonprofit organizations as well - since they face many of the same challenges of growth and sustainability that for-profit organizations face - albeit with a mission-focus.

For over 20 years, I have advised nonprofit organizations large and small, both through pro-bono activity through Harvard Business School Alumni club's Community Action Partners (CAP) as well as through my own consulting practice. My clients have ranged from national in scale (like Charity Navigator, the New England Aquarium's Choice Catch program, and two divisions of the American Nurses Association) to more local (like the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and the Conservation Law Foundation).

I led the strategic planning development and subsequent business plan creation for this $200 million organization that provides a broad range of day habilitation, residential services and employment services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health services. The strategic plan focused on improving coordination across 5 states in the mid-Atlantic region to better prepare the organization for impending changes coming in managed care and value-based payments.

I am just beginning to guide a strategic planning process for this health and human services organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout southeastern Massachusetts. However, I have worked extensively with Paul, the CEO at an earlier time, when he was the CEO of the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS).

With NBTS, we developed a strategic plan to guide the leading organization in its field, developing an innovative and, hopefully, more effective way to work towards a cure. Their “Defeat GBM” collaborative initiative created through this work has begun to show some promise, and the new CEO became actively involved with Joe Biden’s “moon-shot” cancer initiative.
