11th Annual Nackey S. Loeb First Amendment Awards

Presented by: Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications

ABC's chief political correspondent and Good Morning America co-anchor George Stephanopoulos will be the keynote speaker at the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications First Amendment Awards this fall.

Dedication to the protection of the First Amendment freedoms is not accomplished in a day's work, but rather a lifetime. Recognizing the efforts taken to preserve free speech and press, the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications established the First Amendment Award in 2003. The award honors New Hampshire residents who exemplify freedoms granted in the First Amendment. From a lawyer's closing remarks, to a professor's lecture, to concerned citizens' participation in town governance, New Hampshire residents uphold the First Amendment liberties daily.

The public is invited to help select the First Amendment recipient by nominating New Hampshire residents or organizations who work to protect free speech and free press. You can submit your nomination online on the Loeb School's website.

Past recipients include former state Attorney General Philip McLaughlin, former Keene Sentinel Executive Editor Thomas F. Kearney, The Laconia Citizen, former legislator Daniel Hughes, former Dover City Councilor David Scott, Londonderry High School Journalism Adviser Mary Lukas, First Amendment attorney William Chapman, ConVal School Board member Gail Pierson Cromwell, The Portsmouth Herald and David Lang and the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire.

Tickets go on sale September 12th:
