A New Widget to Simplify Charitable Giving

A collaboration between donor-advised fund sponsors and nonprofit organizations, led by Fidelity Charitable®, has created a new web application (widget) that helps nonprofit organizations simplify charitable giving and tap into the growing popularity of donor-advised funds (DAFs). The DAF Direct widget is the first technology that enables donors to initiate a grant recommendation from their charitable account with their donor-advised fund sponsor while on a nonprofit’s website.

NH Nonprofits Seek New Economic Opportunities

In the Nonprofit Finance Fund 2013 State of the Sector Survey, nearly 6000 nonprofits respondents from across the country shared the details of how they are adapting their organizations and finances to current economic conditions. A key finding is that nonprofits need, and are seeking, new funding sources and models.

Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Greater Manchester Receives Grant

Manchester – People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, announced today that it has awarded $2,500 to Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Greater Manchester. The funding will support the Read to Succeed program that works to decrease non-graduation rates by providing mentors to at risk youth to assist them academically and give them the tools they need to have higher success in school and in adulthood.

BJ’s Charitable Foundation supports Families First’s Well-Child Program

Portsmouth – BJ’s Charitable Foundation recently donated $6,000 to support the Well-Child Program at Families First Health and Support Center.   The program includes preventive exams, screenings and immunizations provided to children at recommended intervals depending on the child’s age. In addition to medical care provided by a pediatric nurse practitioner, patients also have access, on-site, to screenings by a child-development specialist, nutrition counseling and dental care, as well as home visiting. Families First served more than 800 pediatric patients last year.

West High School to Benefit from Gift of Computers from St. Mary’s Bank

Manchester – St. Mary’s Bank partnered with Computer Technology Assistance Corps (CTAC) to donate 12 refurbished personal computers to Manchester West High School.  The nation’s first credit union donated the used PC’s, and CTAC installed refurbished hard drives and installed Windows 7 on each computer.

NHFPI Analysis of Governor's Budget

In submitting her proposed fiscal year 2014-2015 budget to the Legislature in February, Governor Maggie Hassan described it as one that “begins rebuilding” from the steep cuts in spending adopted during previous budget debates. NHFPI has published a budget brief examining Governor Hassan’s proposed appropriations and recommended policy changes.
