Nonprofit Policy Caucus

This year’s Policy Caucus will explore the important role of the nonprofit sector in pandemic recovery. New Hampshire’s nonprofits are positioned within their communities to help address the impacts of the pandemic and support the necessary interventions for a strong recovery. Our speakers will explore how nonprofits can partner, connect with new resources, deliver on their missions, and cultivate strong and resilient communities.

About the Speakers

David Thompson, Vice-President of Public Policy, National Council of Nonprofits

David L. Thompson is Vice President of Public Policy for the National Council of Nonprofits, the nation's largest network of nonprofit organizations. Active at the local, state, and federal levels through its member State Associations and nonprofit allies, the National Council amplifies the voices of America's local community-based nonprofit organizations, helping them engage in critical policy issues affecting the sector, manage and lead more effectively, collaborate and exchange solutions, and achieve greater impact in their communities. Kathleen Reardon, CEO, NH Center for Nonprofits

Kathleen Reardon is Chief Executive Officer of the NH Center for Nonprofits. She leads the strategic direction and overall operations of the Center, a statewide nonprofit association dedicated to advancing the impact and visibility of the nonprofit sector in New Hampshire. Kathleen joined the Center in 2016, after 18 years with Citizens Bank, bringing experience in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors including public and media relations, foundation and corporate giving, community development, and volunteer and event management.

 

Richard Ober, President and CEO, NH Charitable Foundation

Dick Ober leads the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, the largest private provider of nonprofit grants and student aid in northern New England. The Foundation manages over $732 million in charitable funds donated by hundreds of families and individuals, and awards some 6,000 grants and scholarships exceeding $40 million annually. Taylor Caswell, Commissioner, NH Department of Business and Economic Affairs and Director of the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery

Mr. Taylor Caswell is the first commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs. First appointed to the position by Gov. Chris Sununu in 2017, Commissioner Caswell serves as the chief economic and marketing official for the state and oversees the state Divisions of Economic Development and Travel & Tourism Development, enabling and growing economic vitality for residents and employers in the Granite State.

Elissa Margolin, Margolin Consulting

Elissa is a consultant to nonprofits with a specialty in public policy. She has worked to advance many critical policy issues in New Hampshire with several organizations including: the NH Center for Nonprofits; Housing Action NH; the Growth and Development Roundtable; NH Voices for Health; and the American Heart Association.
