The volunteer sector has evolved over generations to leverage the changing landscape of volunteerism, but this past year has certainly delivered more change than ever before. Not only do social, economic, and generational trends affect how individuals volunteer, but the pandemic transformed how organizations attract, engage, and retain qualified volunteers.

What lessons can we learn from the challenges imposed by the pandemic and what role will you, as a leader of volunteers, play in harnessing volunteer power in the months ahead? Join Presenter Beth Steinhorn for an interactive series exploring how volunteer engagement can be core to reopening (not just a side note!) and a vital resource for returning to more normalized operations.

Session 1: Recruitment and Partnerships

For generations, traditional volunteer engagement has functioned side by side with more informal, neighbor to neighbor volunteering. Over the past year, many organizations became more open to leveraging these informal networks of volunteers to fill needs as their regular corps of volunteers were unable to serve due to health concerns, while other organizations are looking ahead to rebuild their volunteer pool as they resume engaging volunteers. In either case, recruitment will not look the same as it did prior to the pandemic. Join us in this exploration of tried and true recruitment practices along with innovations that have challenged traditional boundaries of recruitment to determine which strategies might serve your mission best moving forward.
