Communicating in Critical and Crisis Situations

We put policies, procedures, and contingency plans into place to avoid emergencies and crisis. Sometimes, however, bad things happen to good organizations. And bad news travels quickly!

Be prepared to communicate effectively under adverse circumstances. Protect your employees, safeguard the credibility and integrity of your nonprofit, and preserve the reputation of your organization.

Beginning with the development of a high level crisis communication plan, this hands-on workshop will help you:
  •   Assess your organization’s risk levels
  •   Align roles and define messaging among Board members and senior staff
  •   Communicate with employees — situational updates and expectations
  •   Navigate the unique challenges of social media
  •   Effectively communicate and manage news media
  •   Appropriately reach out to select stakeholder groups
Participants will understand and be able to apply essential knowledge and tools necessary to successfully work through a difficult event or crisis situation.
