About the Organization

Building Community in New Hampshire is a private non-profit organization that provides post-resettlement services to refugees and evacuees seeking asylum. We help new Americans navigate their way to safe, healthy, prosperous, and connected lives in New Hampshire. Our four case managers today are former refugees or immigrants from Afghanistan, Congo, and Bhutan.  We have funding to help respond to the wave of Ukrainians seeking services in New Hampshire.

Our main office is in Manchester and we have a branch office in Nashua.  We work statewide.

About the Job

Description

The bilingual case manager will provide practical support to Ukrainians who have fled the war and are living in New Hampshire.

The case manager will work one-on-one with refugees, helping them access social services, employment, housing, medical care, and educational opportunities for themselves and their children.  The case manager will develop trusting relationships with the refugees and help them participate in community life.  The case manager will help his or her clients build connections with other Ukrainians in the region.  The case manager will ensure that the needs of the Ukrainians are assessed and met in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.

Most Ukrainian refugees in New Hampshire have been sponsored by local volunteers.  BCNH's case manager will help those volunteers be as effective and connected as possible.

BCNH has offices in Manchester and Nashua but will be serving Ukrainians throughout much of the state. Candidates do not need to live close to the office, provided they can meet clients in person and virtually as necessary.

  • Fluency in Ukrainian and English
  • Excellent people skills, ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Experience in social services preferred
  • Cultural background comparable to client population
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel
