Description

The New Hampshire Alliance for Public Charter Schools (NHAPCS) is seeking an Executive Director motivated by a core belief in the power of innovative public charter schools. The ideal candidate will bring experience and talent in managing the public-facing positioning of the Alliance, its membership development, professional development and best practice programming for charter school leaders, and creative means of boosting the public’s understanding of the NH charter school model through the sharing of non-partisan information.

The NHAPCS is a non-profit, membership organization which offers NH charter school leaders access to a community of colleagues and related leadership resources to assist us in addressing the complex issues and challenges faced by NH charter schools. The Alliance is led by a Board of active and engaged charter school leaders and supporters who would directly oversee the work of the Executive Director.

Position Type: Part-time, expected 15-20 hours per week, with a scheduled 3-month review of job scope in year 1.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Publicity and Positioning of the Alliance

  • Newsletter (Monthly)
  • Facebook and other Social Media (regular postings)
  • Website Development and Maintenance
  • Op Eds about charter school issues
  • Organize charter school professional development and conferences
  • Develop and share communication (templates) for schools to adapt for widespread quick communication (in consult with Alliance’s Consultant on Government Relations, as needed

Membership Development

  • Meeting with prospective members
  • Work with new charters
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and questions about charter startups
  • Organize and attend monthly board calls.

Coordinate with the NH Department of Education (NH-Ed) / Board of Education

  • NH-Ed Charter Office
    • Work with NH-ED and legislators on sensitive issues, policy development, and answer questions from the charter perspective.
  • NH Board of Education
    • Attend meetings relevant to charter schools and report a summary of discussions and decisions to the NH Alliance board, and membership as relevant.

Capturing & Sharing of Best Practice Policies & Procedures

  • Gathering and maintaining bank of documents for member schools
  • Organizing PD around member need

Fundraising

  • For the Alliance beyond membership fees
  • Identifying potential sources for charter schools

Communicate/Meet at least twice a month with Alliance’s Consultant on Government Relations

  • The Executive Director will be assisted by a part-time Consultant on Government Relations, whose role will be to monitor and track legislation.
  • Team meetings will provide the ED with a general overview, and information for inclusion of relative items in the Alliance newsletter, potential Op Eds, etc.

Maintain national awareness of charter landscape and communication

  • Attend national charter zoom meetings 
    • (State Leaders Council/National Alliance meets by Zoom 1-2 times per month.
  • Organize and facilitate regular Alliance meetings (monthly or quarterly to be determined).
