Seacoast Science Center receives commendation from Governor Sununu

Rye - Governor Chris Sununu and the NH Executive Council presented the Seacoast Science Center (SSC) a commendation for its dedication to marine education and for being an invaluable resource for the protection of NH's coastline. The commendation was presented during the NH Executive Council meeting which was held at the science center on October 2, 2019.

Governor Sununu congratulated SSC for the over 25 years it has worked to provide science-based education that inspires curiosity and conversation about the natural world to 90,000 visitors annually. Sununu also recognized that its unique location in Odiorne Point State Park allows people to experience New Hampshire’s coastal environment and learn about the heritage of the coastline.

SSC also received accolades for its mission to encourage conservation and preservation of our natural resources through engaging, hands-on education opportunities and for their Marine Mammal Rescue program’s work to protect stranded animals and the public alike.

“The Seacoast Science Center would not be the respected community resource that it is today without its dedicated staff,” said SSC President Jim Chase. “Over time, Seacoast Science Center has grown to be an anchor institution for New Hampshire, supporting education and advancing environmental conservation for tens of thousands of people each year. Thanks to our inspirational location in Odiorne Point State Park and our strong partnership with the NH Division of Parks and Recreation there is no better venue to advance marine and coastal conservation in New Hampshire.”
