New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Grants Nearly $3.2 Million in Operating Support to Nonprofits

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has made $3,180,000 in grants through its Community Grants Program to support the operations of 68 nonprofits serving New Hampshire communities.

Angie's Place women's shelter converting to apartments

Angie’s Place, the former women-only shelter operated by New Horizons, will be converted into small apartments that will be leased out to homeless people under the Housing First model, leaders of Families in Transition said Tuesday.

Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success Named Citizens Bank Champion in Action

Representatives from the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success—a nonprofit aiding in the resettlement of refugee and immigrant groups—were on hand Tuesday to receive the 2020 Champion in Action award in the category of inclusion and equality. Champions in Action is a program that partners the New Hampshire Union Leader with Citizens Bank to award $35,000 in an unrestricted grant to nonprofits that address social concerns.

NH Humane Society Names New Director

After a nationwide search, the NH Humane Society (NHHS) in Laconia hired Charles Stanton as its executive director. Stanton, who has a lifelong passion for animal welfare, made the nearly 3,000-mile journey from Washington State to join NHHS. He most recently served as executive director of the Yakima Humane Society and started his new role at NHHS on Dec. 9.
