Breathe New Hampshire Welcomes New PR & Communications Director

Breathe New Hampshire, the only nonprofit public health agency in New Hampshire dedicated solely to lung health, has hired Mary Ellen Hettinger, APR, of Merrimack as Director of Public Relations and Communications.

“I’m excited about helping Breathe NH celebrate its centennial in 2016,” Hettinger said. She was previously at Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains for more than seven years.

Prior to that Hettinger was a reporter for The Cabinet Press in Milford, where she won two New Hampshire Press Association “Best Feature” awards. She has also earned awards for website writing and book editing, and continues this work as Write Stuff Writing & Editing.

Hettinger was the last chair of the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women and is on the board of the NH Women’s Foundation.

A director of the Yankee Public Relations Society of America, Hettinger is accredited in public relations (APR), and is co-chair of the Accreditation Committee to advance professionalism in the field.

Hettinger is vice chair of the Ambassador Committee of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the public relations arm of the GMCC. She has also chaired the annual Messiah Sing! in Mont Vernon for 10 years.

Since 1916, Breathe New Hampshire has been committed to eliminating lung disease and improving the quality of life for those living with lung disease in New Hampshire.
