2021 Nonprofit Impact Awards Announced

The NH Center for Nonprofits announces the recipients of its 2021 Nonprofit Impact Awards to be presented at a virtual celebration on April 22. Cross Roads House and Building Community in New Hampshire (BCNH) will receive Nonprofit Impact Awards.  The Harvard Pilgrim Healthy Community Impact Award will be awarded to Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County (aka St. Joseph Community Services). Sylvia Dow, Executive Director of Visions for Creative Housing Solutions, and Amy Moore, Program Director for In-Home Care at Ascentria Care Alliance, will receive New Hampshire Impact Awards. Barry Brensinger will receive the Board Impact Award.

“Over the past year, nonprofit leaders stepped up to meet the challenges of our communities with heroic determination and compassion,” said Kathleen Reardon, CEO of the NH Center for Nonprofits. “We are pleased to present these awards to celebrate the resilience, vision, and dedication that we see throughout the nonprofit sector. Each of the honorees has made an extraordinary impact on our state.”

Cross Roads House and Building Community in New Hampshire (BCNH) will receive Nonprofit Impact Awards, recognizing exceptional service to the community. Cross Roads House will be honored for excellence in working to meet the immediate needs of families and individuals experiencing homelessness and providing the tools and guidance they need to successfully return to permanent housing. BCNH will be celebrated for ensuring that refugees from many countries get the essential services and cultural connections to become established and thrive in New Hampshire, and eventually become American citizens.

The Harvard Pilgrim Healthy Community Impact Award recognizes a nonprofit working to increase access to care and improve the well-being of individuals and communities. Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County (aka St. Joseph Community Services) will be honored for combatting hunger and isolation in older and disabled adults. They make it possible for seniors to live healthier and more independent lives at home by providing daily food, wellness checks and information about other community services to enhance their physical and emotional health.

“We are proud to partner with NH Center for Nonprofits and honor Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County for their extraordinary efforts to delivery healthy meals and a friendly visit to hundreds of older adults throughout southern New Hampshire,” said William Brewster, M.D., Vice President, NH Regional Market for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.  “Harvard Pilgrim is committed to providing quality care to individuals and families across New Hampshire and improving access to fresh healthy food through our Foundation.  We congratulate Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County for all they do every day to ensure the health and wellbeing of our neighbors and friends.”

The New Hampshire Impact Awards honor nonprofit employees for significant contributions to their organizations, the nonprofit sector and the state. Sylvia Dow will be honored for her leadership creating and implementing an innovative model for supportive housing with wraparound services for adults with developmental disabilities and brain disorders. Amy Moore will be recognized for her dedication to and advocacy for some of New Hampshire’s most vulnerable citizens and the staff who serve them.

Barry Brensinger will receive the Board Impact Award for his exemplary board service and leadership with multiple charitable organizations in the state. Barry has served on boards including the Manchester Boys and Girls Club, Catholic Medical Center, City Year New Hampshire, and New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Most recently, Barry has led Manchester Proud, bringing the community together to champion student success and create a shared vision for the city’s schools.

The April 22 virtual event will celebrate the Center’s nonprofit members and its many partners who are committed to the common good of New Hampshire communities. Reserve your spot at the event by visiting www.nhnonprofits.org/impact.

The evening is made possible through the generous support of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Eastern Bank, E&S Insurance Services, and others.
