The NH Center for Nonprofits and NH Charitable Foundation will be sending the following letter to both Senator Ayotte and Senator Shaheen regarding the America Gives More Act. If you're unfamiliar with this legislation, you can read our previous coverage.

If you would like to add your signature to the letter, please send an email to with your name, title, and the organization you are representing.

The letters have been sent to the senators, and we are no long accepting signatures. Thank you to the 100+ leaders who signed on in support of the America Gives More Act.

These letters will be sent to both Senators on September 12th, so if you want to support this effort, we need to hear back from you ASAP.

Dear Senator Ayotte and Senator Shaheen:

The NH Center for Nonprofits, representing over 600 nonprofits in the state of New Hampshire, along with the NH Charitable Foundation, NH's largest community foundation, have joined with the many organizations signed below to ask for your support of the America Gives More Act .

The America Gives More Act promotes charitable giving to nonprofit organizations. As you know, NH's nonprofit organizations are essential to the economy and inner workings of every NH community. The legislation is important because it:

  1. makes the IRA charitable rollover permanent;
  2. enhances food donations to food banks;
  3. incentivizes donations of conservation easements to qualified conservation organizations;
  4. extends the deadline for charitable contributions through April 15; and
  5. simplifies the excise tax on private foundations to 1%; freeing up additional resources for local investments.

The US House of Representatives passed the America Gives More Act in July with impressive bi-partisan support. Both of NH's House members supported its passage.
We urge you to request that Senate leadership bring the America Gives More Act to the floor for consideration and that you give the legislation your full support.

Thank you for your ongoing support of NH's nonprofit sector.
