Conservation Groups Successfully Advocate for NH's Loon Population

The Loon Preservation Committee (LPC), NH Lakes Association (NH LAKES), and NH Audubon are applauding Governor Maggie Hassan’s signing of Senate Bill 89 on Tuesday, July 2.  SB 89 protects loons from toxic lead fishing sinkers and jigs (hooks with a lead weight molded onto them) weighing one ounce or less—the largest known cause of NH adult loon mortality.

BIA Advocacy Pays Off

An update of New Hampshire’s business corporation laws, an act that passed both houses on unanimous roll call votes and was signed into law June 27 by Gov. Maggie Hassan. It is the first major rewrite in two decades of New Hampshire’s corporation law and a top priority of the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire.

Advocacy by the Numbers

The breadth of nonprofit sector in NH and impact on its citizens is impressive. These nonprofits provide the very real products and services that touch all NH citizens in some way, and that citizens often rely upon, each and every day; from health care to education and from natural resources and arts and culture. Every day the dedicated and skilled workforce of the nonprofit sector are providing advances in these areas, all while playing a large role in the state’s economy.

Who is making a difference?

The Center strives to support and advance legislation by identifying and working on issues that affect the entire sector. The Center also continues to be a collaborative convener around important issues and tracks and shares the work of other advocacy-focused nonprofit organizations. While we all work to advance the nonprofit sector there are many organizations taking on specific and targeted initiatives on behalf of their constituents.
