Bill Aimed at Taxing Nonprofits

As communities grapple with funding deficits and policy makers push to squeeze money from any source possible, once again taxing nonprofit institutions is being proposed.

The tax exempt status of nonprofits is time-honored agreement between society and nonprofits, but current thinking on the issue is vastly divided. 

One NH lawmaker is proposing a bill aimed at nonprofit hospitals and universities.  Since the implications of this proposal impacts the entire sector, NH Center for Nonprofits will closely monitor the bill, provide timely updates and information from around the country.
