Bookkeeper/Office Coordinator


Founded in 1992, the NH LAKES is a statewide, member-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring the responsible care and use of New Hampshire's lakes to keep them healthy for the benefit of current and future generations through its Advocacy, Conservation, Outreach, and Membership programs. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dedicated team at NH LAKES. 

Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Development, this position is responsible for performing a variety of bookkeeping and accounting duties. In addition, this individual will be contributing to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing office operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency using QuickBooks
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent with 3-5 years related experience or combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent skills in collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting in the nonprofit sector desired
  • Understanding of and commitment to NH LAKES’ mission.

Bookkeeping Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of day to day bookkeeping processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Process invoices in a timely manner.
  • Receive and deposit all organizational revenue.
  • Execute payroll activities using a 3rd party payroll service provider.
  • Perform annual 1099 reporting process for vendors
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including standard financial reports, budget vs. actual reports, and grant-specific financial reports.
  • Manage time tracking process for all employees.
  • Assist with the annual audit.

Operations Coordination Responsibilities:

  • Open daily mail and responsible for out-going mail
  • Coordinate print jobs with outside printers
  • Maintain inventory, monitor, and troubleshoot, using outside contractor when needed, all IT equipment including computers, video projectors, etc.
  • Provide training to fellow staff on office equipment
  • Document retention and destruction
  • Maintain and restock office supplies
  • Maintain and update human resource information for staff
  • Coordinate annual employee benefits enrollment and renewals
