Health Care Data Assistant

Reporting to the Health Care Data and Quality Projects Manager, the Health Care Data Assistant supports the Quality Improvement efforts of the organization. The assistant will be closely involved with the management of EMR and PM system data cleanup, extraction and dissemination of quality reports from payor portals, and regular processing of patients newly assigned to our panel.  Some of the responsibilities are

  • Monitoring, evaluating and facilitating accurate panels by extracting on a monthly basis all patients on the payor’s portal for our current patient panel with our internal patient panel. Compare the two lists and forward new patients who have been added that have not yet established care to the Health Benefit Access Manager for the new patient intake staff to actively outreach.
  • Extract on a regular basis reports from payor portals on quality, including gap analysis, ED and other utilization and expense reports. Work with supervisor and care department to facilitate distribution of these reports for clinical follow-up.
  • Follow schedule of activities for EMR and PM system maintenance, to include managing duplicate patients, banner changes, patients due to be inactivated, provider panel assignments, language cleanup and other system cleanup activities.

Qualifications:

  • At least one of the following combinations of education and experience preferred:
    • Experience with Payor Portals, Patient Panels, patient eligibility
    • Experience with data analysis, data extraction
    • AS or BS in computer science or related field
  • QA/QI experience, preferred.
  • Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) experience/knowledge, a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills in the areas of excel, power point, other Microsoft Office products and  databases.
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software required (GE Centricity, a plus), experience with Business Objects and/or Crystal Report Writing preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational and communication expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
