Director of Development & Community Relations

Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice

The Mission of Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice is “Promoting dignity, independence, and well-being through the delivery of quality home health, hospice and community-based care services”.

Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice offers healthcare services in the homes of clients in Lakes Region communities by providing nursing services in the home, rehabilitation services (physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy), Pediatric Care (direct health care, education and support services for children and families) and a comprehensive, team-based Hospice program. 

Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice is a not-for-profit, Medicare-certified provider of home care and hospice services, licensed by the State of New Hampshire. The agency is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees and supported by private and corporate donations. 


The Director of Development & Community Relations is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all of Central VNA’s fundraising and marketing efforts. That includes, but is not limited to, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events, grant seeking and town funding. Marketing side will include all media (print, radio and social), Central VNA Website, Outreach, and Liaison activities.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and writing skills
• Minimum of 5-10 years prior fund development and marketing experience
• Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
• Must be independently led and a “self-starter” who follows through on tasks and goals.
• Must be comfortable with public speaking
• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in public relations or communications

Job Responsibilities

Development

• Create annual development plan and sets fundraising goals
• Solely responsible for all annual fund activities, including annual fund mailings and memorial giving and gift recognition efforts.
• Coordinate all fund raising special events
• Maintain relationships with area business for annual and sponsorship support
• Manage fundraising database and tracking systems.
• Maintain major donor program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors, prospects and gift recognition programs.
• Manage grant seeking including research, proposal writing and reporting requirements.
• Build planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
• Initiate creation of publications (newsletter, annual report, brochures, fliers and event programs) to support fund raising activities.
• Staff Board Development and Marketing Committees.
• Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure accurate systems to account for donations.
• Adheres to the “Donor Bill of Rights” as a guiding document.

Marketing

• Responsible for the creation and distribution of all media to all outlets including print media, radio and social media which includes press releases, PSAs, paid advertising, etc.
• Regularly posts to Central’s Facebook page.
• Initiates any email marketing campaigns.
• Contributes to website on a regular basis including blog, news, events and calendar.
• Oversees Outreach committee which includes but is not limited to: blood pressure clinics, blood drives, Speakers Bureau, seminars, etc.
• Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to help inform the public about our programs at Central VNA.
• Manages departmental budget.
